RESEARCH

Applying theories of Play established by Stuart Brown, Wolfgang Iser, and Scott Eberle to the practice of Digital Interactive Installation, specifically featuring a cross examination of Camille Utterback’s 1995 Text Rain, as well as Italian studio FuseWork’s 2009 Snow Fall.

A detailed examination of Rafael Lozano-Hemmer’s 2005 Public Interactive Installation Under Scan, in addition to the artist’s contentious (and controversial) relationship with surveillance. Through this lens, a survey of the social consciousness of surveillance as a national practice is established.

An exploration of the intersection between Virtual Reality media (specifically virtual reality documentary media), and Cinema Verité (or observational documentary). Examines work by Lynette Walworth, Lucien Casting-Taylor, and Frederick Wiseman.
